Two Koi

(Drawing two Koi, swirling around each other)

What you will Learn

Starting with placement and refining the shapes of these moving fish, the drawing progresses through the logical steps of the Old Masters method.  First establishing the outside shape, then determining the local colour pattern of red and black on the backs of these Koi.  Next, some white chalk is added to build the illusion of three dimensional form, and various surface details are highlighted, such as the fish scales and thin papery fins and tail.  And then finishing touches include heightening values and little refinements here and there to bring the whole drawing to a realistic illusion of three-dimensional swimming, moving fish.
